The arrival of Librairie is inevitably an event: the stand is stored in a big white box that is impossible to pass unobserved. It’s born to be the star of special occasions with big emotions and enthusiasm.

Unlike the other GP Atelier stands that stimulate active play, Librairie is ideated for quieter times. The love for books is also love for cozy nooks, warm lights, low voices and silence. With one of Montessori education hallmarks in mind, Librairie promotes independence and self-direction. Children have a choice between different books on different topics, displayed in an easily accessible way.

Librairie is fascinating because of the two antique street lights - typical for Victorian era - which are gracefully hanging above three large shelves. A curious fact about Victorians is that they would specialise in collecting objects and devoted spaces for their prized collections. Just like in old Victorian age, a passion for collecting beautifully illustrated books could flourish among the youngest members of the family. Librairie would make the most flattering cabinet to proudly exhibit those literary treasures.

Librairie is not only a toy. It’s a gentle reminder that repose is essential for brain development and that words and imagery are powerful nutrition for children’s imagination.
